New Blog Guest Feature:  Meet Signoff.

The Law Offices of Marc H. Supcoff is excited to announce a new addition to Designandbuildlaw.com/blog:  We invite individuals and companies that are working to transform the construction industry to submit a guest post describing their work.  For our inaugural post, Nisreen Hasib, founder of Signoff,  provides the following overview:

Signoff is an online platform founded in 2022.  Signoff works with architects and general contractors that specialize in residential, boutique hospitality, restaurant, and small retail projects. Architects use Signoff to connect with vetted and qualified general contractors for their client projects or to outsource the vetting of a new general contractor.

According to Hasib: “Signoff’s mission is to make it easier for design and building professionals to build safe, secure, and beautiful buildings.  Signoff   saves  architects time that gets sunk into searching for and vetting contractors.”

Hasib renovates houses in the Western Catskills and founded Signoff after a falling out with a local contractor.

Connecting With Vetted Contractors

Architects turn to Signoff when they are ready to start the bid process. An architect logs into the platform, creates a new project, uploads a bid set, answers questions about the project, and submits the project for bid.

Signoff matches the project with three vetted contractors who then schedule an initial phone call with architect and project site visit.  The architect and homeowner select a contractor for the project. Signoff provides a platform for housing bid documents and e-signing.  However, Signoff does not prepare or review construction contracts.  The Law Offices of Marc H. Supcoff is experienced in drafting and negotiating every type of project contract.

Signoff’s Vetting Process

Architects also have the option to put any contractor that they are thinking about working with through Signoff’s vetting process.       Signoff follows these steps when vetting general contractors:

1)    Phone Screen: Each contractor goes through a 30 minute phone call with the Signoff CEO and a Signoff team member.

2)    Onboarding and background check: After the phone screen, contractors complete an onboarding questionnaire detailing the history of the firm, specialties, relationships with subcontractors, legal history, financial history (any bankruptcy is an automatic disqualification), and process management.

3)    Office visit: Following successful initial onboarding, the Signoff team visits the contractor’s office and talks to different team members responsible for field operations, finance, and project process.

4)    Site Visits: The office visit is followed by site visits to two in progress projects and one finished project.

5)  Reference checks: Signoff seeks references from up to five architects the builder has worked with previously.

Signoff is Trade-Only

Signoff projects are all architect-led.  Homeowners are not able to sign up for Signoff to solicit Signoff contractors directly.  Signoff is free to architects and interior designers. Once a contractor wins a project bid , the contractor paysSignoff a fee based upon the total project value.

Signoff works on projects in NYC and the surrounding areas. Architects that use Signoff have been featured in Architectural Digest, Dwell, and Domino, among other publications.  To learn more about Signoff, reach out to Nisreen Hasib at nisreen@getsignoff.com, or visit the Signoff website.
